OBJECTIVE
As the Gold Coast prepared for the 2018 Commonwealth Games, the city faced a complex challenge: creating a visual identity that captured the spirit of the Games while efficiently guiding participants and spectators through venues, transport routes, and experiences.

RESULT
As the lead graphic designer, I spearheaded a team to transform the Gold Coast into a seamlessly navigable wonderland for the Commonwealth Games. Using ArcGIS, we integrated spatial data from CAD, technical maps, and drawings, adhering to the GOLDOC Style Guides to create precision-driven, visually stunning maps.

Our work went beyond design; we built strong alliances with FA Leads, Heads of PA, visitors, consultants, sponsors, and transport stakeholders, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment. The result was a navigational masterpiece that exceeded expectations, merging data, design, and functionality into an immersive experience.

To ensure the maps were not only functional but also engaging, we incorporated interactive elements and real-time updates. This allowed users to access the most current information, enhancing their overall experience. The positive feedback from both local and international attendees highlighted the success of our efforts, solidifying the Gold Coast’s reputation as a world-class event destination.
